Deciding on a reader

Posted on Thursday 14 September 2006

Recently, it’s become kind of crucial for me to decide on one reader and stick with it. My newsletter campaign management company (campaignmonitor.com) doesn’t provide automatic emails whenever I convert a new subscriber. Instead, they provide a cool RSS feed that updates every time someone new signs up.

This is indeed a great RSS application worth mentioning, but it also made me realize that hey, although I’ve been researching RSS and trying out many readers, I still don’t have one reader to call my own. I have several accounts setup - on google.com/reader, on rojo, and probably on numerous others that I can’t even remember. But not one of these has come through for me as my own official reader, sort of like Gmail has in email.

So, I’ll let you know my preferences and perhaps you could point me to the reader you think is best: (a) I hate readers that create a window within a window on the bottom right section of the screen (that’s bye-bye to most exe readers and many many others), (b) I want a web-based reader, (c) I want a reader that makes it easy for me to add my own feeds and doesn’t always opt to suggest Newsweek feeds etc.

Thank you for your help.
